Sixth Form Information

Our Offer

In line with other Colleges and Sixth Forms nationally, most students choosing to study at Driffield Sixth Form will choose three A Levels /Level 3 equivalents.

They will not sit external AS Level examinations as these will not count towards the final A Level grade under the new A Level framework.

Students will sit formal mock examinations at the end of Year 12 to allow progress to be measured prior to application being made to University courses.

Alongside their A Level choices they will be expected to participate fully in an enrichment curriculum that offers them to chance to build a competitive portfolio for applications to employment, apprenticeships and University. These enrichment options will include volunteering opportunities, work experience and the chance to gain further qualifications. This could also include the opportunity to study for a fourth A Level, which would be studied to AS level.

Entry Criteria

Students will need to gain 5 GCSEs at 9-5 to access A Level Courses and 4 GCSEs at 9-5 to access vocational courses. They will be expected to gain a grade 5 in the subject that they wish to study at Level 3, but in some subject areas such as Maths and the Sciences they will need to gain a grade 6. In addition, to study Psychology students will need a 6 in Maths or Science.

Guidance

Throughout the year students are given interview opportunities where they will receive individual guidance to ensure that they make the right choices for their future.

How to apply

Prospective students should apply via the application form here, so that we can begin timetabling courses as soon as possible.
