Online Safety

At Driffield School and Sixth Form, we pride ourselves on taking a lead in teaching our students how to use new technology safely. We have a number of initiatives to increase student, parent and staff awareness of issues relating to online safety.

All KS3 and KS4 students will receive a number of lessons this year – as part of the ICT curriculum – about how to stay safe in a digital world.  These will be organised around an e-safety topic each term. This year, the topics are:

  • Year 7: how to use the internet for research
  • Year 8: learning about e-safety and creating an e-safety website
  • Year 9: social networking
  • Years 10/11: social networking

We have established an e-safety noticeboard in the East Building where students can find information about online safety.  We also have a number of leaflets available in school, which provide further information for parents and students on specific topics (such as social networking and music downloads).

We always focus on e-safety during National Anti-Bullying week (in November each year) and take the opportunity to highlight all aspects of internet security with students during Safer Internet Day in February.

See the following websites for more information:

We have a well established school e-safety policy, which is updated annually and is available on the school website.

Further information on e-safety issues and guidance on how to avoid online dangers (or deal with them if they occur) can be found on the following websites:
