Year 11 Steps to Success Evening

On Wednesday 20th March, Driffield School & Sixth Form held a ‘Steps to Success’ evening for Year 11 students.

The purpose of the evening was to engage students with revision and provide them with practical tips and techniques to support their revision. All students received a revision goodie bag which included materials to aid their revision at home.

Whilst the event was aimed at students, they were asked to bring along one adult who will support with their revision at home.

Students arrived between 5.00 pm and 5.30 pm and were welcomed with music, refreshments and a pub style quiz. The Steps to Success talk started at 5.30pm and then students had the opportunity to take part in two workshops that followed the main talk.  The workshops to choose from included Memory techniques, Revision timetables and well-being, How to revise using IT/Q&A support, Mastering English, How to revise mathematics and Using past papers and mark schemes in Science. Resources from all the workshops were then provided in a booklet for all students to take away at the end of the evening.

Assistant Headteacher, Mrs Loftus, said “The evening was a huge success and has built on all of the interventions that the Year 11 students are already undertaking in the lead up to their GCSE examinations. This will continue to be put into practice as students attend Easter Booster revision sessions over the Easter holidays”.
