Driffield School Local Governors

Karen Dow
Karen DowChair of Governors - Safeguarding
Karen is a retired Affiliate Headteacher and science specialist, having worked in the research field prior to her career in education, with nationally acknowledged achievements in curriculum development. Karen has worked with the former Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and led South Hunsley through a number of major curriculum changes as the school’s roll grew, in response to local and national agendas. When Affiliate Headteacher, Karen had lead responsibility for Standards including teaching and learning, curriculum development and monitoring and evaluation. Karen introduced and implemented the MES systems that have been vital in South Hunsley’s year on year improvement and, with colleagues in SLT, refined and improved these as assessment and examination regimes changed. These systems were adopted by other leadership teams through South Hunsley’s school to school support work.
