Key Stage 4 Pathways

Gifted and Talented English and Maths Workshop

On the Friday 1st March, 31 junior school students came to Driffield School to take part in a ‘Gifted and Talented’ English and Maths workshop, visiting from Driffield Juniors, North Froddingam, Burton Agnes and Hutton Cranswick schools.  Over the course of the day, the students were entertained, engaged and educated with a selection of creative activities relating to English and Maths. In the morning, students enjoyed a poetry workshop, starting with an interactive reading of Roald Dahl and finishing with students writing and sharing their own poetry. After lunch, students switched to Maths, and were in charge of investigating and building their own five sided shapes which they accomplished with vast enthusiasm and enjoyment.

Not only was feedback from staff and students overwhelmingly positive, both on the day and retrospectively, but the junior students were an absolute credit to their respective schools and came to Driffield full of energy with a willingness to tackle any challenge thrown in their direction. Driffield School would like extend our gratitude to not only those students who visited, but also the junior school staff who made it possible for the workshop to go ahead and allow Driffield School to forge such positive links with the wider community.
