National News
Isolation booths in schools – contribute to upcoming research from the Children’s Commissioner
The Children’s Commissioner for England is looking for parents, carers and children to help contribute to its research on isolation booths in schools and academies. The research will be looking at the use of high walled desks / dividers / ‘booths’ which children may be placed in as a sanction for misbehaving. The purpose of the research is to understand the different ways in which schools are using isolation booths. As part of this, the Children’s Commissioner’s office wants to understand what children’s experiences have been and wants to speak to children who have spent time in isolation booths. If you are a parent or carer who knows about how this practice is being used, and has children who are happy to speak with the Children’s Commissioner’s office about this, please contact: Alice Talbot, Investigative Researcher at the Children’s Commissioner’s Office on: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or tel: 020 7340 8113 before 18 October 2019.
Alice can provide more information about the research and what taking part would involve. If emailing, please include information about where you are from and tell us a bit about your child’s experience with isolation booths. Please provide a contact number.
