Ski Trip Bormio 2019

This year 74 students and 9 staff from Driffield School & Sixth Form spent an amazing week skiing in the Italian Alps in the wonderful resort of Bormio.

The journey began at lunchtime on 15th February – ending a mere 31 hours (yes 31 hours) later in Bormio. The first night was spent settling into the hotel and getting skis fitted ready for the excitement of skiing the following day.

After a full and well-earned night sleep the first day was spent by the beginners learning to ski on the resorts “baby” slopes, and by the more advanced skiers exploring the many runs, snow parks and off-piste areas the resort has to offer. The evening was spent in the hotel relaxing and chatting about the adventures the students had on the slopes.

5 more days of superb skiing followed, all of which were spent in glorious sunshine with perfect snow conditions under ski. The evenings were spent watching football, playing games, quizzing and relaxing in the hotel. On Friday 22nd February we began the journey home at 8pm, arriving back safe and sound in Driffield 30 hours later. Everyone on the trip had a truly memorable holiday full of fun, laughter and brilliant skiing.

It was the largest group we have ever taken on a ski trip, and once again the students did the school proud, showing brilliant levels of behaviour, enthusiasm and determination. Mr McDonald, Ski Trip Leader, added “I would like to thank Mrs Dean, Mr Dean, Mrs Backhouse, Mrs Ramsay, Mr Evans, Miss Warcup, Miss Dean and Miss Yates for giving up their time to support the students and ensure they had an amazing time. We cannot wait for next year’s trip which I have already begun to plan!”
