Oliver! Show Wows Audiences

After a week of sell-out shows, the amazing cast of Oliver! would like to thank everybody who supported this year’s school production. It was a fantastic experience that exceeded all of their expectations and the reaction has been overwhelming from staff, parents, students and members of the public. Head of Drama, Mr Colley, said “The students taking part were a credit to school and they have created some memories that will last for a lifetime. Special thanks also to the staff and volunteers who supported the production”.

This was Executive Principal Mr Ratheram’s first experience of a production at Driffield School & Sixth Form and he gave a glowing review: “How good was that?  This was my first Driffield Show and I was honestly blown away. I’d heard they were good but that was the most professional school production I’ve ever seen. The strength of the vocals; the comic timing; the brilliant music and singing; the tight performance of such great choreography - it was all done expertly. I am exceptionally proud to be connected with Driffield School.  Thank you all so much for the hard work, commitment and talent you’ve performed with”.

Head of Sixth Form, Mr Andrews, added “It might be a cliché, but the shows are always a real highlight of the year for me. They are a wonderful opportunity to witness the best that Driffield School and Sixth Form has to offer. From Year 7 to 13 you have excelled, producing a tremendous show that served to capture and transport the audience to a place that brought huge enjoyment to all involved. I am always proud of the school, but during the show that I saw, that pride swelled even more. The musicians were fantastic, the support cast absolutely on the money and the principal cast not only served to drive the production with excellence, but succeeded to make it one of the most outstanding performances I have seen at the school. As ever the support team of staff and volunteers who have produced the set and ensured that the whole event runs smoothly have again excelled; and Mr Colley and Mr Couper remain absolute shining stars in the school community - I feel grateful to be part of it”.

Well done to every single member of cast, crew, musicians, staff and volunteers for delivering a week of pure joy and we look forward to the announcement of next year’s production!
