National Citizen Service Award for Driffield School and Sixth Form

On Thursday 15th November Mrs Mortimer Co-ordinator of CEIAG attended the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire presentation for the NCS at Doncaster Keepmoat Stadium.  Our school has had 174 students complete the National Citizen Service programme over the last two years.  This is a fantastic achievement and the Tigers Trust, who run our NCS, would like to congratulate all the NCS graduates from Driffield School and Sixth Form for all their amazing work.

They have all completed a week’s residential in the Lake District and a residential at The University of Hull. They then completed a two week social action project, helping the local community and making a positive difference in Driffield and the surrounding area. 

The current Year 11 and Year 12 students can now apply to complete the National Citizen Service.

Mrs Mortimer would like all parents and carers to know more about this fantastic opportunity for their son or daughter. Below are some facts about the NCS and the programme run through Driffield School and Sixth Form:

National Citizen Service Facts:

  • Open to students in Year 11 and 12 only - students must be age 15-17 years only
  • It is a 20 day personal development programme; students try new things, make new friends, learn new skills and develop their CV
  • The cost is only £50 and free for those on pupil premium – this is subsidised as costs approximately £1500 to run
  • The programme is delivered in four waves, so students who finish their exams early can start the programme early
  • All students still can attend their prom, as we will bring them back for their prom
  • Our provider that runs the NCS is the Tigers Trust and is one of the best providers in the UK
  • Many of our students that have completed the NCS come back and work on the programme, this summer they will recruit 70 staff to work on the programme.
  • Last year over 500 students in this area completed the NCS with the Tigers Trust
  • This year the programme is going to be even bigger!
