Year 8 Students’ Cricket Tour to Sri Lanka

Year 8 student, Noah Kelly, has recently taken part in a trip of a lifetime to Sri Lanka to play cricket. Proud mum, Mrs Kelly, said “We have had the most amazing time and Noah has experienced a fantastic standard of cricket in a different and challenging environment. Noah took and rose to the challenge of opening the batting and sharing the wicket keeping. He picked up the batting award for his age group on the tour for his very mature batting at the top of the order, for his captaincy and for how he conducts himself in the field; as well as for supporting the other players”.

Noah and the team also went to watch the England cricket team train and met a couple of the England players. They then all went to watch the T20 match. Kind-hearted Noah also gave a pair of his batting gloves as a gift to one of the Sri Lankan players who was also left handed.

On returning home, Noah learnt that he had also picked up the special performance award at the Yorkshire presentation night that had been held whilst he was away. Mrs Kelly added “We are very proud of Noah; and would like to once again thank Driffield School & Sixth Form for supporting Noah with his cricket”. Mr Duke, Head of PE, added “Noah is not only a very talented young cricketer, but also a kind and friendly person. This has been a fantastic opportunity for Noah and we wish him well in his continued cricketing endeavours”.
