Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition

Last weekend a group of 16 Driffield School & Sixth Form students successfully completed their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Expedition. The three groups of students had all completed a practice expedition and this weekend they have completed their qualifying expedition.

The expeditions were over 2 days with 1 night camping, covering distances of approximately 15-18km each day whilst carrying some rather heavy rucksacks. Some of the children did their practice in July, on arguably the hottest day of the year! Quite a contrast to the conditions last weekend, when the students awoke on Sunday morning to ice on the inside of their tents! Miss Richardson-yates, Duke of Edinburgh Manager, said “I am delighted with how well all the students did over both the practice and qualifying expeditions. Despite weather conditions, there were smiles all round and some fantastic teamwork displayed”.
