King's College Cambridge Visit

On Friday 21st September thirty Year 10 students took part in an interactive talk from the King’s College Cambridge Outreach Team. The aim of the session was to raise aspirations for future university study, answer questions that students tend to have at this stage, and to encourage students to stay determined and continue working hard. It puts into context all the hard work they are doing for their GCSE subjects.

Cambridge is one of the best universities in the world offering undergraduate degree courses in the arts and humanities, social sciences, sciences and engineering. It is considered to be in the top ten for academic experience and industry connections. 90% of graduates were in employment or in further study 6 months after graduating last year.

Our focus at Driffield School and Sixth Form is to ensure all students aspire to the best of their abilities. There will be more informative, inspirational talks from other universities for our Year 10 students on our next APEX day on Friday 12th October. Mrs Mortimer, Co-ordinator of CEIAG, is passionate about getting the correct careers advice for all students. There will be talks on apprenticeship opportunities on the second APEX day on the 5th December. Students will develop their knowledge of all the different opportunities at post 16 and post 18.
