GCSE Results - Summer 2018

Staff and students at Driffield School are celebrating following the release of this year’s GCSE results. Our Basics measure has improved for the third year running with 63% of our students achieving a pass in both English and Maths; a further 2% increase on last year.

The majority of GCSEs are now graded 9 - 1 and our students have risen to the challenge of these new rigorous specifications. We are delighted that our students achieved a high proportion of grade 9s, only achieved by the top 3% of the country. Students studying Maths and Science have achieved excellent results with the number of grade 9s in these subjects significantly above the national average.

As well as success in the core subjects, Driffield School continues to excel in the creative arts with Art, Drama and Music results being particularly strong this year. Over a quarter of students sitting Music and Drama achieved grades 7 - 9. A third of students studying music achieved grade 7 and above, with one in ten students achieving a grade 9.

Executive Principal, Scott Ratheram, stated, “We asked a lot of these students and I am delighted to see that so many have achieved or surpassed their target grades. They deserve their success and we look forward to them joining us on the next step of their journey in our Sixth Form.  It is pleasing to see that these results show sustained improvement upon last year’s outcomes and we are confident that this upward trend will continue in future years.”
