Royal Marines and Submarine Service Visit

date: 2018-06-15

On Friday the 15th June the Royal Marines and the Submarine Service visited school.  The Royal Marines led talks about their life as a Marine.  They then led a physical fitness circuit to students from Years 9 and 10.  All three Marines had just come back from active service.   The Submarine Service gave an interesting presentation to Years 8 and 9 about life on a submarine, the specialist training required, promotion opportunities and the pay structure.

The Royal Navy has 106 different roles and it is keen to emphasise the importance of team work, developing people’s natural skills and developing new skills that stay with you for life.  It is a fantastic career with continuous learning.  The Marines and Submariners highlighted the importance of protecting our nation’s interests and being a guardian, a diplomat and a humanitarian force for good.

A career in The Royal Navy combines travel, adventure and work.  For further information, students can see Mrs Mortimer, Co-ordinator of CEIAG.  If students are passionate about engineering then the new Accelerated Apprentice Scheme gives people the opportunity to start a career that matches their ambition, with a clear pathway for progression.
