Driffield Year 10 v Bedale – York’s Cup Third Round

date: 2018-06-08

On a breezy but overcast day on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales Driffield took on Bedale School in the third round of the Yorks School 20/20 challenge. Opting to bat first the home side lost their big opener in the third over and some tight bowling from Robb and Wilkes kept the early run rate down to a minimum. The Bedale middle order added some lusty blows in the middle of the innings but an inspired bowling change bought Leighton into the attack and his accurate left arm over proved difficult to contend with and they closed on 93 after 20 overs. Driffield will admit they fielded poorly and too many extras may lead to problems in other games.

Robb and Wilkes opened the batting and although the outfield prevented free scoring they saw off the early bowlers and kept the score ticking along nicely.

Mr Duke, Head of PE, said “Well done to the team – it was a good win after a long journey; and the team progress to a semi-final against St Peters School, York”.
