Year 11 Experience Macbeth on Stage

date: 2018-04-27

On Wednesday 11th April, Year 11 students at Driffield School were lucky enough to receive a visit from Manchester-based theatre company manACTco.  The troupe of four actors crossed the Pennines to bring their adaptation of Macbeth to the school’s Performing Arts building in order to help students prepare for their GCSEs.

Director of English, Richard McDonald, was delighted with the performance: “We were really glad to get the group in before Year 11 have their exams, as they have to analyse how Shakespeare might have wanted the play to look in performance.  Knowing the plot of the play well is also crucial - so seeing the play being acted out gives them another way to remember key details.”

The actors delivered an hour-long version of the play to Year 11 students, followed by a question and answer session where students were able to get their thoughts on the play and their performance.  Additionally, the actors even gave the students some hints and tips on how they might interpret the characters when exploring the play in their lessons.
